GUIDE SHACK
Set on a narrow lot on the bank of the Arkansas River, this dynamic building will be the future home of two former raft guides who once helped visitors navigate these same waters. Not surprisingly, river access and views was the primary driver behind the design. Toward that end, the main living area is on the upper level, which provides the best views of the river and the hills beyond. Interior level changes (from the entry to the upper floor, and up again to the office) help give the house an engaging flow, while the main southeast-facing stairwell adds light to both levels.
