We began this design with a simple, classic form: two perpendicular gables. Then we carved away one of the upper gable ends to create a third-floor deck. This panoramic perch offers views of the Continental Divide to the west and will likely become the ideal place for sunset cocktails. The overall aesthetic reflects the farmhouse vernacular, with expanded volumes imitating the additions so often found on rural homes. Hopefully, the extra spaces we’ve created here will accommodate the client’s growing family well into the future.
