MAYSVILLE RETREAT

Our clients were lucky to find a sliver of land along the South Arkansas River, literally just minutes from Monarch Ski Area. Our task was to help make use of an existing building pad and create a house that embraces the sounds of the river and surrounding views while shielding noise from a nearby state road. The “L” shaped design orients the main living spaces toward the river and creates a courtyard that defines an outdoor living area. The house is oriented to maximize solar gain to a rooftop array. Given the wildfire risk in the area, exterior finishes are all non-combustible, including weathered steel and wood-look steel plank siding.
