BaseCamp is a multi-functional pavilion that serves as both a launching pad for discovering Salida and as a gathering place for locals and visitors alike, a sort of community “living room.”

Anchored by a large fireplace, the complex uses a series of overlapping roofs to define the open-air spaces below. The main roof spans the “living room,” an area that invites interaction with foot and bicycle traffic on the Monarch Spur Trail. A secondary roof covers a more intimate, wood-floored space, a sort of outdoor yoga studio. A third roof hovers over a high countertop seating area, a perfect place to enjoy your take-out lunch or coffee and a view of Tenderfoot Mountain. Finally, a fourth roof shelters the exterior kiosk area, where visitors can learn about Salida and its history.
